FAQ

Common questions

Why is electrical conductivity (EC) critical for coco coir?

Coco coir naturally contains sodium and potassium salts. High salinity (EC) can stunt plant growth. Washing or buffering coco coir reduces the EC to make it suitable for agriculture. We test and state the EC value for every batch.

What is the difference between washed and buffered cocopeat?

Washing coco coir with water reduces the soluble salts, lowering the EC. Buffering goes a step further by using calcium and magnesium to displace the sodium and potassium bound to the coir fibres, ensuring nutrient stability for plants.

How is moisture content managed during shipping?

To prevent mold and degradation during long transit times, cocopeat blocks are dried to a specific moisture percentage before compression. We measure and report the exact moisture level of each batch prior to loading.
